From the storied Franschhoek Valley in South Africa's Western Cape, Anthonij Rupert's Optima is a highly allocated Bordeaux-style blend that has earned its place among the country's finest reds. The Rupert family estate at L'Ormarins has been producing acclaimed wines for generations.
Tasting Notes: Tendrils of spice add nuance to a nose packed with blackberries, hedgerow fruit, and mocha. The palate is medium to full-bodied with cassis, cedar wood, and leather, supported by chewy tannins and bright acidity. Long, savoury finish.
Enjoy with: Grilled rack of lamb, beef Wellington, or mature Cheddar.
