A lush and deeply aged expression in the Bandido de Amores line, this Extra Añejo transforms 100% blue agave into a rich, dessert-style sipping tequila—offering caramel, dried fruit and oak warmth in a refined package worthy of slow, contemplative enjoyment.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Bandido de Amores is crafted from 100% blue Weber agave grown in Jalisco, Mexico. The Extra Añejo version follows an extended ageing regimen beyond the standard Añejo categories. It is matured in oak barrels for approximately three years before bottling. The additional time in wood nurtures greater complexity, colour depth and wood-derived nuance while still preserving the agave’s core character.
Critics Reviews
-
Trade notes describe this expression as “premium tequila classified as Extra Añejo — with the time in barrel reflecting in dark amber tones, richly textured oak spice and mature flavour.”
-
Retail descriptions highlight its “honey-caramel nose, supple mature palate of dried fruit, vanilla and toasted wood, and a long, warm finish that speaks to extended ageing.”
Tasting Profile
-
Nose: Deep amber in the glass; aromas of honeyed agave, caramelised fig, baked vanilla sponge and toasted oak drift through. Hints of dried apricot, orange zest and mild clove spice add dimension.
-
Palate: Smooth, rounded and opulent. You’ll taste brown sugar, dark chocolate, roasted pecan, dried dates and subtle leather. The agave sweetness remains present but is elegantly integrated with wood notes.
-
Finish: Long, warm and satisfying — lingering oak tannins, a touch of cocoa nib, and gentle pepper-spice on the tail. The agave sweetness fades to a refined echo of toasted oak and dried fruit.
