Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaraguan Jalapa
Filler: Nicaraguan, Honduran
Profile: Medium +
The Project Broadleaf Boartamer from Cavalier Genève is a captivating follow-up to the Skywalker release, showcasing the brand’s bold exploration of Connecticut broadleaf. Measuring 5 1/4 x 52, the Boartamer presents a dark and toothy broadleaf wrapper that immediately sets the tone for a rich smoking experience. Beneath the surface lies a Jalapa-grown binder and a filler blend from Honduras and Nicaragua, offering layers of earthiness, cocoa, and spice with a subtle sweetness that balances the intensity.
On the draw, the Boartamer is smooth yet complex, opening with dark chocolate and black pepper before transitioning into notes of cedar, roasted coffee, and a touch of dried fruit. The construction is excellent, with a steady burn and a dense, satisfying smoke output. This release is limited to just 500 bundles of 10 cigars, is a well-priced offering for fans of hearty, full-flavored profiles.
As part of the ongoing Project Broadleaf Series, Boartamer stands out for its nuanced take on the broadleaf profile, distinct from the Skywalker’s Mexican San Andrés binder. With two more installments yet to be revealed, the series promises evolving complexity and craftsmanship. For now, Boartamer delivers a memorable smoking experience worthy of its place in this ambitious collection.
