From the heart of Tuscany, Italy, the Fattoria Pomona estate lies in the renowned Chianti Classico region, within the commune of Castellina in Chianti. This family-run winery is helmed by winemaker Monica Raspi, who returned to her roots to honour her family's legacy with a focus on sustainable viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. The estate is known for its meticulous care in both vineyard and cellar, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Chianti hills.
This Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 is a pure expression of Sangiovese, showcasing a luminous ruby red colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, it reveals an elegant bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberries, and dried herbs, layered with subtle notes of tobacco, leather, and forest floor. The palate is harmonious and well-structured, with firm yet polished tannins supporting flavours of ripe red fruit, balsamic spice, and a savoury minerality. Medium to full-bodied, the wine finishes long and persistent with a touch of earthy elegance. Best enjoyed now through 2030, it exhibits a balanced profile with freshness and depth that typify a well-crafted Riserva.
