Marcotte Moonshine Watermelon comes from Marcotte Distilling Company in Philomath, Oregon. Husband and wife Joe and Janelle Marcotte opened their tasting room there in 2018. Their moonshine is distilled several times, until the base is close to flavorless. Then natural flavorings go in. In this bottle, that flavor is watermelon.
Crack the cap and you will smell fresh, juicy watermelon right away. It is sweet but clean, a lot like slicing ripe fruit on a hot day. The sip is light rather than syrupy. You taste watermelon first, then a soft warmth that fades without any burn.
At 25% ABV, it is gentler than a full-strength spirit. That makes it easy to sip cold over ice. You can also stretch it with lemonade, soda or a squeeze of lime. It fits backyard cookouts, game days and slow summer weekends.
You will not need a recipe or fancy glassware. Just pour, share and enjoy the fruit. If you like moonshine that tastes like real fruit, keep a bottle in the fridge for warm days.
