Introduction
Stroppiana Bussia Barolo is a red wine from the Barolo DOCG in the Piedmont region of Italy. The family estate, Cantina Stroppiana, was founded in the mid-20th century and is currently managed by the fourth generation of winemakers, Leonardo and Altea Stroppiana. The winery's history is deeply rooted in two prestigious townships, La Morra and Monforte d'Alba, with the Bussia vineyard specifically representing the family heritage of their mother, Stefania.
Wine Description
This wine displays a classic ruby red colour with distinct garnet highlights. The sensory profile is intense and refined, featuring a bouquet of forest floor, tobacco, and cocoa, which evolves into notes of white truffle and goudron as it ages. On the palate, it is full bodied, dry, and powerful, offering a warm and velvety texture with balanced yet firm tannins that provide a harmonious structure. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba, the wine typically has an ABV of 14.5%. It undergoes aging for at least 38 months, including significant time in oak barrels, to achieve its characteristic complexity. While the winery emphasizes a close connection to the land and tradition, this specific vintage is not certified organic.
