A combination of plots and some estate and négoce fruit from nearby villages in Alsace, this is 100% Pinot Noir from Yannick. The grapes come from plots of schist, sandstone, clay and sedimentary soils, and the wine is mostly négoce grapes with just a little of Yannick's own Pinot, resulting in a sun-influenced wine that is rich in tannins. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified separately, each with one-week whole-bunch maceration in open-top vats prior to pressing to neutral Burgundy barrel, then blended, rested for a short time and bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no additional SO2. With a Burgundian mother and Alsatian father, Yannick grew up between two winemaking regions, studied viticulture and oenology in Beaune and Montpellier, and after a brief stint on his parents' estate he traveled the world, learning from mentors such as Philippe Pacalet, Patrick Meyer, Claus Preisinger, Charles Dufour and Christian Binner before launching his own project with the first vintage released in 2020.
